COLLABORATION AND SYNERGY
Using the tools of frame.io (more on why I chose this site in particular below), I am able to collaborate easily with you, and have a much, much better and more time-efficient workflow than sending texts and emails back and forth. Through this, you can comment on any changes I've made, respond to my comments, upload any additional files that might be needed for the project, and view different versions side-by-side to compare what you like best.
FILE UPLOAD AND VERSIONING
Uploading and sharing all of your files is incredibly easy, and I'll have access to everything as soon as you do. Likewise, I am able to upload versions of edited footage/pictures straight from Premiere, Final Cut, and Resolve. Versions are labeled and tracked automatically, so there'll never be a mess of files you have to sort through, no matter how many edits we have going back and forth.
COMMENTING AND ITERATION
The system allows for commenting directly on timecode marks — so when you see anything you'd like changed, you can leave a comment on it that will be directly synced to my computer, with that comment showing up directly in my editing program at that exact moment — so, if I'm at my computer, turn-around time can be a matter of minutes, not days. This is pretty revolutionary for workflow and TAT, and I'm a big fan of it.
WHY FRAME.IO, AND WHY I'M USING AN EXTERNAL SYSTEM
I was in the midst of building such a system from the ground up when I came across frame.io, which does exactly what I was trying to build but much, much better. I've therefore chosen it as the only outside service to integrate with the site — but don't worry, I'll still add all users myself and manage company and project pages. The ability to integrate commenting systems, versioning, the UI, and easily create and assign users is what sold me. I hope you'll understand my use of an outside service for the client/contractor use case, and know that all of the costs for this are on me — it's totally free for you to use.
